SITE UPGRADES
Let me begin by thanking everyone for the positive feedback and encouragement in this undertaking. I’ll do my best to meet your expectations. Just don’t set the bar too high.
I’ve made several improvements to the site that should help the lines of communication run smoother.
- I’ve loosened the security on the comments so you shouldn’t get a notice about any comments being held for approval from the administrator anymore. I don’t think there will be a need for that here.
- There are now “like” and “share” icons at the bottom of all of the posts if you have an unquenchable desire to share any of these discussions with other people.
- When you next visit this blog you should get a push notification asking if you want to be automatically notified when a new post is available. And honestly, who of us doesn’t want to be.
That should address any technical issues so we can start moving on to more interesting topics soon.
Jeff,
I made a post on Nextdoor looking for fellow Wheelchair Athletes in Pinehurst. Your mom hooked me up with your blog. I had a surgical accident during a spinal fusion that irreparably damaged my L4 nerve of my spine. 2 years later I’m still dealing with horrible nerve pain & take opioids, etc to be able to function. I was lucky enough to find Western Wake Tennis Association in Cary & got on their player list. They provide the equipment & we meet 2x a month, at no charge, to have a tennis clinic with their head coach. I applied for a grant through Challenged Athletes Foundation & TODAY found out I’m getting a grant to pay for a custom made tennis sports wheelchair!!!! I’m ecstatic for this opportunity! I played tennis growing up & a personal chair that will up my game is really a game changer for me. I found my “thing” & I’m hoping that anyone that has a life changing accident can find something that keeps them from going down the rabbit hole. I’ll keep watching for more posts in your blog. Keep on rollin’!
Carrie,
I’m glad you found this and are part of the community now. That’s great news about the tennis chair. I’ve played a little tennis as well and the sport specific chair that fits you makes all the difference in the world. You’ll love it. Hopefully the physical activity helps alleviate some of your pain. I’ve got 25 years on you when it comes to this lifestyle so if you have an questions about anything, don’t hesitate to ask, either through the blog or send me a private message if you’re more comfortable with that. Look forward to hearing more about your tennis.
