Pressure Relief, Part II

July 13, 2021 4 By Jeff Dellovade

One of my goals for this blog was to help the disabled community out in any way I can with both words and action. I am attempting to put my years of experience and knowledge towards bettering the situation for those in similar conditions that follow me. Gratefully that time is upon me.

For those of you who have been arduously following this blog you may remember one of the initial posts discussing pressure sores and ways and means of preventing and treating them. This is the long-awaited sequel.

At then end of that post I discussed my concept for a new type of pressure-relieving seating cushion. As luck would have it my blog found its way into the hands of some of the directors in the Human Engineering Research Lab (HERL) at the University of Pittsburgh and they liked what they read. Subsequently they offered me an internship to join one of their research teams focusing on this same issue. I have since accepted and will begin working with them in the coming weeks.

I am extremely excited to be joining their team and I hope, with me background and experience, to be able to add some benefit to their research. I look at this as my opportunity to help further this cause in some finite way and I will do my best to make that happen.

For proprietary reasons I cannot disclose anything specific about this project but I will do what I can to keep everyone updated on my progress during this endeavor.

If nothing else comes of this blog site other than more of my seemingly endless satirical rhetoric, at least I’ll have had this opportunity to provide my worth to this community. But I have an idea I’m just getting started….

…because that’s how I roll.
